14 Plus Care Day Event @ The Rink

The largest indoor skating rink around, with roller skating, football, hockey and basketball, all rounded off with celebratory pizza and cupcakes. A chance to meet old friends and make some new ones too. Numbers are limited.

Open to: Any young person in the Southern Trust 14 Plus Team

Pathways into Catering

Find out about catering with Craig Beazley, Head Chef of the Bull & Claw restaurant, Donaghadee. See how his restaurant operates, hear about the skills needed to become a chef, and get hands on in the kitchen preparing food with Craig and his team. Foster and kinship carers then join for lunch, where you can practise your table service skills!

Southern Trust 14 Plus Football

Celebrate Care Day at the weekly football session in the Cathedral Road Recreation Centre, led by Darnell Parkinson. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the mix of fitness training, skills and a football match, with treats for all attendees.

Magic Gareth’s Virtual Magic Show

Join the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust for a special virtual magic show with Gareth! “He’s the best magician I’ve ever seen… and I’ve seen 3!” Sophie, aged 4 (and a half!)

Pathways into TV & Theatre Hair and Makeup

Find out about modern wigs, hair and makeup artistry within the TV and theatre industry with Patricia Strong, an experienced professional who has worked on series such as ‘Game of Thrones’. Hear about the skills needed, see styling demonstrations and have a go yourself, followed by lunch with foster and kinship carers at the Millbrook Lodge hotel.

Supporting Care Experienced Young People

An awareness training course from Include Youth to help you and your organisation improve awareness of how the sector challenges stereotypes and encourages inclusive practices, better understand the health and wellbeing needs of children and young people, and build awareness of inclusion, diversity and opportunities for care experienced children and young people.

Open to: Organisations who wish to improve their awareness of the unique needs of care experienced young people
