Cultural Celebration Event at 100 Great Patrick Street

Local children’s charities, Include Youth and VOYIC, have hosted a wonderful Cultural Celebration at their youth space at 100 Great Patrick Street (100GPS).

The event, on Monday 31 March, provided an opportunity to mark the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, while also recognising the many different cultures that make up our community.

The Cultural Celebration Open Day was a lively and enjoyable occasion, filled with performances, food, and activities that highlighted various cultural traditions. Guests were treated to performances of Dabka and Irish dancing, which added a unique touch to the celebration. A delicious lunch was provided by Artseka, offering a taste of different cultural flavours, including samosas, falafel, stuff vine leaves, and two different curries.

Guests were invited to have beautiful henna tattoos, take part in an energetic drum circle, and come together in a shared experience of music and movement.

Young people had the chance to learn about a variety of cultural traditions in a fun and engaging environment. It was a great way to foster understanding and appreciation for the rich cultural diversity within our community.

The event was part-funded by the Education Authority and the Belfast HSCT, and held in the charities’ dedicated youth space at 100GPS, 100 Great Partick St, Belfast. Managed by their joint social enterprise, Viable Corporate Services, more information on the space, which is available for external booking, is available at www.100gps.co.uk.
