Care to Swap

A group of young care experienced women supported by VOYPIC are coming together to host a pre-Christmas swap shop, to support children in families in Northern Ireland and the Philippines.

Care to Swap will take place on Thursday 15 December, 5.30pm – 8pm, at 100GPS, Belfast’s new dedicated youth space for young people with lived experience of care.

Entry costs £5, and covers three tokens to exchange for pre-loved items in the swap shop. With the money raised from the event, the young women will purchase backpacks from Ten Foundations, a charity supporting vulnerable children, families and communities in the Philippines. The backpacks will then be distributed to children and young people in and leaving care here in Northern Ireland.

Are you clearing out your wardrobe before Christmas? Donations of good quality clothing can be left off at the VOYPIC office- 100 Great Patrick Street, Belfast, BT1 2LU. Any items leftover at the end of the event will be donated to local charities supporting homeless people in Belfast.

Everyone attending will be entered into a special raffle, with great prizes including festive hampers, shopping vouches and experience gift cards. If you can’t make the event, raffle tickets can also be purchased in advance by contacting Angela on 07854254981 or angela.adair@voypic.org.

The Care to Swap event is a social action project, designed by young people taking part in the VOYPIC Young Women’s Group. The group is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
