Care Day Awards

Care Day is all about celebrating and connecting young people with lived experience of care. We’re recognising care experienced young people who have had a significant achievement, or who have made a contribution to their community. 

Care Day Awards - The Winers

Community Champion

Recognising young person who has made an outstanding contribution to their community, either their local community or the care experienced community. Sponsored by the Youth Justice Agency, the award was presented by YJA Chief Executive, Stephen Martin.

 Student of the Year

Recognising the achievement of a young person in education or training, be that an academic achievement or an achievement in their own personal development in education. Sponsored by Karl Group, the award was presented by Edel Walsh, from the SPPG, Department of Health.

Rising Star in Employment

Recognising the achievements of a young person in employment, including part-time employment. Sponsored by Total Mobile, the award was presented by Orla and Jay Millar, from Jay’s Barber Club.

 Care Hero Award

Recognising a special contribution made by an adult, either to a young person in care, young people in care, or the care experienced community as a whole. Sponsored by Lunn’s Jewellers, this award was presented by VOYPIC Young Rep, Madison Boyce, and care experienced member of the VOYPIC team, Alex Cowan.

 Social Action Champion

Recognising the achievement of a young person (or group of young people) who have taken action that led to social change within their community. Sponsored by Action for Children NI – Fostering Service, this award was presented by Chris Quinn, NI Commissioner for Children and Young People.

Spirit of VOYPIC

Recognising recognises three young people who have really embodied the VOYPIC values, and who are great ambassadors for the organisation. These awards are not sponsored, and were presented by a VOYPIC team member who has worked closely with the recipient.
