Volunteer Mentors get recognition for their achievements

"Thank you for being there for me and never giving up hope... I was
very lucky to have a mentor as caring, genuine and trust worthy as you!!
You are a wee diamond. You give me a voice!!!!" (young person aged 15)
"The best thing about being involved in VOYPIC mentoring is that when
they said they would be there they were, they never let me down. I have
never had that. It has made me more confident" (young person aged 15)
Voice Of Young People In Care's (VOYPIC) Mentoring programme makes a
real difference to many care experienced young people. These are just
two examples of some of the things care experienced young people who
have been mentored said about the experience.
On Tuesday 29th June new VOYPIC volunteer mentors from the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust area joined mentors from across Northern Ireland to officially graduate, having successfully completed their accredited Open College Network training. This training prepares them to mentor a care experienced young person.
Carol Hall, VOYPIC Mentoring Service Manager said "This is our
opportunity to thank the volunteers for the amazing commitment they have
shown to care experienced young people already. They have completed
over 90 hours of training and are now embarking on a year long
relationship with a young person in care."
Carol went on to say "Volunteers come from all walks of life; some
have little or no knowledge of the care system whilst others have first
hand experience. If you are interested in finding out more about our
Mentoring project, visit our website at www.voypic.org."
